Fulshear Promotes Adult Independence

transition.-purchsed

As a woman in her late teens or early twenties, you are understandably ready to live independently of your parents or other caregivers. You want to prove to them that you can make it on your own and don’t need them always “checking up” on you.

We fully understand this desire. And we also understand the concerns of the people who love you. They have watched you struggle before and most likely are afraid of letting go. We want to help you get to a place where you feel good about yourself, have life skills for living alone and enjoy the trust of those who care about you.

That’s why we’ve designed our program to challenge you. Unlike some fast-track programs that announce you are finished after three months, we spend at least 11 months working through your issues, helping you adjust to life outside of a treatment setting, and building the skills and confidence that you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

With our guidance, you will create a strategy for life after the Fulshear program, setting clear goals and paving a path for the future.

Academics

We want to prepare you for independence and self-sufficiency. Education is an important part of this goal. We do not only mean academics. In addition to academics you will be involved in job -training and life skills development.

When you arrive at Fulshear, you will create an academic plan with our Academic Director when you are ready. We will help you make a strategy to achieve it. This could include college classes at local campuses, GED completion, college entrance exam (ACT, SAT) prep, studying for professional certifications for jobs (like an EMT) or on-the-job learning with local businesses.
