Shawn holds a BA in Sociology from Lamar University as well as an MA in Anthropology from the University of Houston. Following graduate studies, he worked for 11 years as the Director of Educational & Case Management Services serving refugee and trafficked-persons populations. He was also a professor at the University of Houston for four years specializing in psychological anthropology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling.
Additionally, he has been an active volunteer in the recovery community of Houston for several years serving those overcoming chemical dependency. He is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor as well as a Recovery Support Specialist. He has assisted others in rebuilding their lives through recovery in diverse settings including hospitals, treatment centers, sober living homes, and 12-Step Programs.
Shawn loves yoga, tennis, films, reading, and spending time with friends, husband, and their two amazing dogs. He is an avid traveler having visited or lived in 26 countries on five continents.
